Dr. Tamara Pryor Bio - Tamara Pryor, PhD, FAED

Dr. Tamara Pryor has been privileged to work in the field of eating disorders for over 40 years. She spent 16 years as an Associate Professor and Director of the Eating Disorder Program at the University of Kansas - School of Medicine, four years as Co-director of the PATH Eating Disorders Clinic, and three years at Wichita Psychiatric Consultants as the Director of eating disorder services before spending 18 years as the Executive Director of Clinical and Research at The Eating Disorder Center of Denver. Dr. Pryor conducts research and has published articles examining personality disorders, substance use disorders, multi-impulsive behavior, sexual functioning, and most recently fMRI studies examining brain activity in the eating disordered individual. She has presented both nationally and internationally, and she co-authored 4 chapters on Eating Disorders and Substance Abuse.

Dr. Pryor is a member of the Eating Disorder Research Society, a Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders and served on the Board of Directors of the National Eating Disorders Association. She has a MSW from Wayne State University, a MA in Rehabilitation Counseling, as well as a Masters and PhD in Psychology from Southern Illinois University. She completed a one year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in child psychiatry and a second Post-Doctoral fellowship in eating disorders at the University of Kansas - School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine.

Dr. Amy Baker Dennis - PhD, FAED

Amy Baker Dennis, Ph.D., FAED, FACT, is a researcher, educator, trainer, mentor, author and clinical psychologist and administrator.   Dr. Dennis has maintained a clinical practice for 45 years and has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 1977. Dr. Dennis became the Executive Director the National Anorexic Aid Society in 1979, designed and implemented 7 National eating disorder conferences and founded the first outpatient treatment program for individual with eating disorders in Columbus, Ohio in 1983.

In 1988 she moved to Detroit, Michigan, opened a private mental clinic, Dennis & Moye & Associates. Dr. Dennis has served on the faculties of Wayne State Medical School, the University of South Florida Medical School and the Hamilton Holt Graduate School at Rollins College. She is a Founding Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders (AED), Founding member of the Eating Disorder Research Society (EDRS), Founding member of the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA), Founding Fellow/Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive Therapy (ACT) and a Certified Cognitive Therapist. She has received numerous awards including the “Outstanding Contributions to the Field of Eating Disorders” presented by AED and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” presented by NEDA. She has lectured nationally and internationally, and published extensively, Her most recent book, is entitled “Eating Disorders, Addictions and Substance Use Disorders: Clinical, Research and Treatment Perspectives.”

Leah Graves - RDN, LDN, hon CEDRD-S, FAED

Leah Graves has been treating eating disorders for over 30 years providing direct client care as well as leadership for a variety of eating disorders organizations.  Leah is a founding member of the Academy for Eating Disorders where she has served on the Academy’s Executive Team, Board of Directors and chaired the North American Teaching Days for the International Conference on Eating Disorders in addition to serving the Academy on the Nominating, Fellowship Selection, and Membership Recruitment and Retention Committees.   She has also been honored with the distinction of Fellow of the Academy for Eating Disorders and honorary Certified Eating Disorder Specialist by the International Association of Eating Disorders Professionals.  

Leah has been involved in eating disorders advocacy with the National Eating Disorders Association as a member of the Clinical Advisory Council.  Additionally, she serves as a co-editor for Eating Disorder Review and on the Advisory Board for both Rock Recovery and the National Center of Excellence for Eating Disorders.  She also served the Oklahoma Eating Disorders Association as President and Governance Committee Chair.

Leah has been invited faculty at many eating disorders conferences including the International Conference on Eating Disorders, Hispano-Latin American Congress on Eating Disorders, Renfrew Foundation Conference, Multi-service Eating Disorders Association Conference, and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Food and Nutrition Conference, as well as numerous regional and local conferences. She has written several publications pertaining to nutrition and eating disorders and is highly respected within the eating disorders field for her expertise in medical nutrition therapy, nutrition counseling, and clinical supervision.
